Operations Officer
We’re hiring: Operations Officer at Elfrida Rathbone (Camden)
The charity
Elfrida Rathbone (Camden) is a charity dedicated to empowering young people with learning disabilities and neurodivergence in Camden and neighbouring boroughs.
Formerly operating as a SEND college, we’re now entering an exciting new chapter, developing our services to help young people access meaningful, long-term employment opportunities while building confidence and independent living skills.
We’ve been through significant organisational change over the past two years. After navigating some challenging times with leadership and funding, we’re now in a stable position both financially and operationally. As a result, we’re looking to grow our internal capacity across both operations and project delivery.
Our mission is to create a more inclusive, equitable and connected community where people with learning disabilities and their families are respected, empowered and supported to lead independent, fulfilling lives.
The role
We’re a small but mighty team with two main functions: Operations and Projects.
We currently have two staff members delivering our projects and will soon be recruiting another part-time Project Support Worker, alongside two volunteer roles.
Our CEO is currently responsible for all of ERC’s operational work. As our new Operations Officer, you’ll initially work closely with her to help strengthen the day-to-day running of the charity.
Your work will include things like:
- supporting reporting and general administration;
- processing payments and helping maintain accurate records;
- supporting funding applications and funder reporting;
- helping draft and maintain policies and organisational documents;
- supporting the development of our internal systems and processes; and
- generally helping to keep the organisation running smoothly.
As the role develops, you’ll have the opportunity to take on more responsibility in areas such as partnership development and wider organisational development.
Who are we looking for?
We want to be as inclusive as possible and welcome candidates from all backgrounds. You don’t need previous experience in the charity sector. What’s more important to us is that you’re willing to learn, enjoy solving problems and like working as part of a team.
Attitude is the most important thing!
Whether you’re looking for a career change, want to bring your skills from another sector into the charity world, or are looking for a part-time role that gives you more time for your family or other commitments, we’d love to hear from you.
As you might have guessed by now, although we’re a small charity, we very much have a start-up mentality. We like rolling up our sleeves, finding solutions, trying new ideas and getting things done!
Salary, Hours & Location
Salary: Circa £35,000 full-time equivalent (pro rata)
Hours: 2 or 3 days a week, depending on your preference.
Working days: Most likely between Tuesday and Thursday.
Location: Camden / hybrid working.
As a small and flexible organisation, we’re happy to discuss working arrangements and will do our best to accommodate individual circumstances while making sure the needs of the charity are met.
Interested?
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you.
Please send your CV and a short statement telling us a little about yourself and what interests you about the role to Hui Wang, CEO, at hui@elfridacamden.org.uk.
We’re not looking for a perfectly polished application or someone who ticks every box. We’d much rather hear about you, what you could bring to ERC and why the opportunity interests you.
If you’d like to find out a little more before applying, feel free to get in touch and we can arrange an informal chat.
Application deadline: 6pm on Tuesday 8 September 2026.
We positively celebrate Diversity and Inclusion at ERC and the foundations and principles underpinning all our work are about reflecting and connecting with the diverse community that we serve. We want people from all walks of life to work at ERC and to feel valued for their individuality, to thrive and to share a sense of belonging.
We wish to encourage applications to this position regardless of race, nationality, ethnic or national origins, sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, age or religion or belief. All applications will be considered solely on merit.
